MTS kicks off own taxi service in partnership with City Mobil

MOSCOW, Oct 27 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator MTS has launched taxi hailing business, MTS Taxi, in Moscow and St. Petersburg in a partnership with taxi aggregator City Mobil in order to diversify, the mobile operator’s spokesman Dmitry Solodovnikov said on Friday.

“A difference of MTS’ service from other similar offers is that a trip can cost just 1 ruble to users of MTS Taxi. Clients can pay the rest with bonus points gained under the loyalty program MTS Bonus for using connection services and upon results of previous trips,” Solodovnikov said.

MTS will reimburse drivers the cost of a trip with money, he said, adding that the operator will later engage other taxi companies. The partners will work under the revenue sharing model.

The operator will promote the service via big data.

Head of mobile operator MegaFon Yulia Dorokhina said the operator signed a strategic agreement with online taxi hailing service Uber to grant subscribers special offers.

Spokeswoman for mobile operator VimpelCom Anna Aybasheva said that the application Veon, available to subscribers of all operators, gives discounts for various services, including taxi.
